Heliartec Solutions Wins 2020 Red Dot: Best of the Best Award With its Aesthetic Energy Panel

Aesthetic Energy Panel stands out among thousands of entries from more than 60 countrie

Heliartec Solutions Co., Ltd. today announces that Aesthetic Energy Panel (AEP) - its photovoltaic-integrated building façade material, emerged victoriously from the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2020 and won a Red Dot: Best of the Best, the highest distinction, for its ground-breaking design.

The Red Dot Award is the world’s most renowned design competition. In 2020, designers and companies from 60 countries entered more than 6,500 products in the competition. True to the motto “In search of good design and innovation”, only the best designs receive an award, and only 1.2% of the objects entered received a Red Dot: Best of the Best.

“Aesthetic Energy Panel - Innovative integration of aesthetics and functionality to enable generation of solar PV energy from building envelops“

Functioning as colored laminated safety glass, AEP can replace traditional cladding in the ventilated façade structure and further turn the building envelops into generators of clean energy.

Appealing graphical patterns: High-resolution digital printing technology enables AEP to mimic the patterns of traditional building materials or to realize any designer/architect’s creations. Special treatment on the glass surface create a silky texture, enhance the vividness and reduce reflected glare.

Superior build quality: Stability and durability are strengthened by utilizing a patented vacuum thermal edge-sealing technology to prevent solar cells from invading humidity. The color vividness of AEP is highly resistant to fading, thanks to the durable ceramic inks treated under high temperature up to 700 degree Celsius.

Design flexibility and application versatility: AEP’s dimension can conform with conventional measurement unit in the construction industry - multiple of 30cm or tailor-made, owing to its patent-secured circuit design. Its use scenarios can include walls of single houses, apartments or high-rise buildings, or building accessories such as such as balcony banister or spandrel glass. Moreover, it can also be integrated with modular building materials, such as roof/wall tile modules, or with pre-fabricated/modular houses.

Heliartec Solutions CEO Mr. Ting-Hui Huang on the award "We are greatly honored and humbled by the award. It is a great recognition for our beliefs and achievements.” Ting-Hui Huang, CEO of Heliartec Solutions, stated in the award. “We believe that AEP is a highly-innovative product at the intersection of construction and solar photovoltaic sectors. It can make a significant contribution to enabling near-Zero Energy Buildings (nZEBs), or even Positive-Energy Buildings(PEBs).”

Red Dot CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec on the laureates “Our experienced jury only awards the Red Dot: Best of the Best to the most convincing products in a category. This is why only a small percentage of the objects entered win this award. It is proof that every detail of the design is coherent and well thought through. Consumers can trust our experts’ decision entirely and can rest assured that the products are of top quality. I want to congratulate the laureates very sincerely on their wonderful success,” said Professor Dr. Peter Zec, Founder and CEO of Red Dot.

About the Red Dot Design Award: In order to appraise the diversity in the field of design in a professional manner, the Red Dot Design Award breaks down into the three disciplines of Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. With more than 18,000 entries, the Red Dot Award is one of the world’s largest design competitions. In 1955, a jury convened for the first time to assess the best designs of the day. In the 1990s, Red Dot CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec developed the name and brand of the award. Ever since, the sought-after distinction “Red Dot” has been the revered international seal of outstanding design quality. The award winners are presented in the yearbooks, museums and online.
